What can you expect from your rehabilitation at Physio Fitaal?
Rehabilitation after an anterior cruciate ligament injury requires commitment, time and structure. At Fysio Fitaal, we guide you through an intensive but achievable process, setting clear expectations from day one. You are never alone - we monitor the process, but you set the pace.
During the first phase, you should mainly expect recovery of mobility, reduction of swelling and regaining control of your knee. During this period, the focus is on basic functions such as being able to walk properly, stretching and bending the knee and activating the thigh muscles. If you undergo surgery, we will make sure you are optimally prepared.
In the following months, the focus shifts towards strength, coordination and stability. You will find that you can do more step by step, and we make sure the exercises you do match your level. You will have access to our modern rehabilitation facilities where we can do sports-specific training, testing and measuring.
The final phase is all about returning to sport or your daily activities at a high level. This means you will be tested for strength, jumping ability, agility and confidence in your knee. Everything is aimed at getting you back to your sport, work or hobby as safely as possible - without unnecessary risks.
Throughout the process, you can expect clear communication, interim evaluations and top-level coaching. We give you insight into your progress, set realistic goals and make sure you understand what you are doing, why you are doing it and when it is time for the next step. This is how we build sustainable recovery together.
Fees & charges
The rehabilitation of an anterior cruciate ligament injury is often covered by the chronic authorisation for physiotherapy, provided surgery has taken place and the appropriate referral is available. Below, we explain what this means and what you can expect in terms of reimbursement and possible costs.
Chronic authorisation in anterior cruciate ligament injury
After surgical reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament, you are entitled to chronic authorisation for physiotherapy. This means that the cost of treatment from the 21st treatment are reimbursed from the basic insurance. The first 20 treatments are reimbursed from your supplementary insurance - provided you have it. If you do not have supplementary insurance, the costs of the first 20 treatments are for your own account.
Please note that your basic insurance excess (€385 or higher) applies to this reimbursement.
Non-operative route
Do you choose rehabilitation without surgery? Then the treatment is not automatically reimbursed from the basic insurance. In that case, you will depend on the coverage of your supplementary insurance or pay for the treatments yourself. We always discuss this in advance so there are never any surprises.
