We address it as follows:
Our approach is effective because you can start your recovery immediately after surgery without taking unnecessary risks. Our physiotherapists come to you and tailor treatments to your personal situation. In the safe environment of your home, you will work on strength, mobility and functionality. The aim is for you to make quick strides in your recovery so that you can move on to further rehabilitation at our practice.
Benefits of Physiotherapy at home after surgery
Physiotherapy at home after surgery offers numerous benefits that are essential for a good recovery. In many cases, it is important to start rehabilitation quickly. Especially in knee operations where stiffening of connective tissue is more common. Home physiotherapy can be scheduled at set times and up to three times a week, depending on need. Any complications, such as infections or other annoying problems, can be spotted and addressed quickly. This proactive approach reduces the risk of long-term complications and promotes a safer and faster recovery.
Working method Physiotherapy at home
After surgery such as anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, cartilage injury or fitting a new knee or hip, it is essential to start physical therapy soon. The first weeks after surgery are often the toughest, both physically and mentally. Physiotherapy at home plays an important role in this phase. Our physiotherapists in Tilburg will guide you with a treatment plan specially tailored to your personal goals. This plan focuses on improving your mobility, strengthening your muscles and reducing pain. By starting exercises at home, you will recover faster and more safely without having to go to the practice.
During recovery after, for example, anterior cruciate ligament surgery or knee replacement, it is crucial to work on strength and stability in a controlled way. The physiotherapist will guide you in this so that you are well prepared for the next phase of your rehabilitation. The aim is that after a few weeks you will be independent enough to come to our practice for further guidance towards full recovery.
Depending on what has been set up for you from the hospital, for example, we visit you a few times a week to make sure everything is running smoothly. At each visit, our physio will check how things are going and make adjustments when necessary. As soon as you are ready, we will welcome you at one of our locations in Tilburg to take rehabilitation to the next level!
Wound healing
After surgery, it takes several weeks for the wound to close completely. Some wound fluid may come out of the wound in the first week. This is normal. If necessary, stick a new plaster on the wound if you notice that the edges of the plaster have to absorb too much wound fluid. The sutures used dissolve on their own in most cases. Let us know if the area around the wound turns red or swells. Symptoms such as fever and an unexplained increase in pain should be reported!
Running
Good muscle control along with a normal gait pattern are essential for further rehabilitation. A lot of attention is paid to this in the home situation. With the help of crutches, you are relieved and can focus on regaining normal gait pattern.
Phasing out use crutches indoors and outdoors.
Depending on the injury, the use of crutches is completely phased out over a period of 2-6 weeks. Exceptions aside. Now that you can move again without crutches, it is time to take the next step in your rehabilitation.
Reimbursement for Physiotherapy at home
Physiotherapy after surgery is reimbursed only if your condition is on the chronic list. Think of recovery after a bone fracture or surgery on your knee, such as a cruciate ligament repair or a new knee prosthesis. You also need a referral from your doctor or GP. In all cases, you pay the deductible, which is often already paid in connection with the surgery costs.
The home fee is 10,- on top of our normal rates
Just to recap:
