Performing the exercise with one leg increases the load per calf muscle and allows for more targeted work on strength and control of one side.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"513\" data-end=\"757\">As with the bilateral variation, the main emphasis is on the soleus muscle, as the knee remains flexed during the exercise.
