How do sports injuries occur?
Sports injuries occur slowly or can occur suddenly. Here we make a distinction between acute injuries such as whiplash in the calf or a torn anterior cruciate ligament. When complaints arise gradually, we more often talk about an overuse injury.
In the case of acute injuries, it is necessary to know quickly what exactly is going on. In some cases, there is no time to lose. The quicker you know what the problem is, the more effective your rehabilitation will be. In the case of overuse injuries, we also look extensively at other factors such as the current training load together with the load capacity and whether all the conditions for recovery are present.
Physiotherapy and sports injuries
During the examination we will look at the possible cause of your sports injury. Especially with acute injuries it is necessary to get a good picture of the complaint. The interview together with additional orthopaedic testing will ensure a correct physiotherapeutic diagnosis. On the basis of this examination, a clear treatment plan is drawn up. We find it very important that you understand how possible complaints arise and what you can take into account to recover as quickly as possible from your complaints! Besides specific advice, the treatment can consist of increasing the mobility by means of manual therapy, various muscle techniques and training the muscles by means of exercise therapy or strength training.
